The Friends of Castle Green Need You!

As a community led group we need volunteers for everything we do.

Newsletter:   Organiser needed to print off the newsletters and co-ordinate the delivery team – someone else puts it together!!

The Green: occasional painting of railings, lamp standards, trimming the hedge, litter picking.  We organise ‘gardening parties’ to work on the beds around the Victoria Bridge.

Events:
~ very early morning marquee set-up, afternoon or evening marquee take down, setting out chairs & tables, etc.
~ helping on raffle sales, with the children’s activities, helping on the FOCG stalls with surveys, feedback forms etc., manning an entrance point
~ occasional stewarding i.e. manning an entrance point
~ café – serving
~ rubbish collection

Pavilion:
~ General maintenance. The odd bit of cleaning, painting, tidying etc.

Education:
~ do you have a skill that you could teach to others, over a 4, 6 or 8 week period.

Food:
~ are you a dab hand at making biscuits, cakes, soups, simple hot dishes such as lasagne or chilli – not necessarily in the Pavilion, although the kitchen would be available, but in your own home to bring to the café on the green at the various events during the year.

~ Longer term: have you any catering experience to help with cooking and serving when eventually the Pavilion café opens for ‘pop-up’ events.  Food Hygiene certificate courses would be arranged for food handling volunteers.

Volunteering can be for a set period or as and when or, in the case of the events, for only a couple of hours.   Nothing is compulsory – you can always say ‘no’ when we ask if you can manage a particular time or day!

Let us know – we are starting to keep a register of volunteers and their skills, their ideas and what they hope to achieve working with us for the future of our community. Email: volunteers@friendsofcastlegreen.org.uk
